Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has signed an Executive Order aimed at addressing rising cases of miscreant activities and thuggery across Katsina State, as part of efforts to strengthen law and order in the state.
The order, titled the Miscreant Activities (Suppression) Order, 2026, was signed on Tuesday at the Government House, Katsina.
Speaking at the event, the governor said the decision was informed by increasing incidents of gang violence and public disorder, particularly in urban areas, warning that the government would not tolerate any form of lawlessness.
The Executive Order establishes the Katsina State Kauraye and Thuggery Suppression Task Force, a multi-agency body mandated to prevent, investigate, and prosecute criminal gang activities across the state.
Members of the task force include the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, alongside other state security outfits and relevant ministries.
According to the governor, the task force will be responsible for dismantling criminal networks, conducting intelligence-led operations, arresting offenders, and ensuring their prosecution. It will also intensify surveillance in identified hotspots and work with communities to prevent youth involvement in criminal gangs.
Radda also announced plans to establish mobile courts to fast-track the prosecution of suspects involved in thuggery-related offences, in collaboration with the state judiciary.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring peace and security, saying the government would take firm action against anyone found engaging in criminal activities.
The task force will operate under the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs in collaboration with all relevant security agencies.
Officials present at the event included the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abdullahi Garba Faskari; Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasiru Mu’azu Danmusa; Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Fadila Mohammed Dikko; and other senior government officials.
